Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – The House of Representatives this week is beginning a series of public informational briefings as part of an effort to gather and disseminate critical information on government plans and initiatives underway to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The first briefing will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8 before the House Health Committee and will review the status of Hawaiʻi’s disease investigation, testing, contact tracing, and isolation and quarantine programs. Reports will be presented by:
- Dr. Libby Char, MD, Director, Hawaiʻi Department of Health 
- Emily Roberson, MPH, Disease Investigation Branch Chief 
- Dr. Sarah Kemble, MD, Acting State Epidemiologist 
- Edward Mersereau, LCSW, CAC, Deputy Director of Behavioral Health 
Upcoming briefing topics include nursing facilities and care home updates; K-12 distance learning; Hawaii’s Safe Travels and tourism re-opening plan; and the State COVID-19 vaccination plan.
The weekly briefings will continue through the end of the year.
No public testimony will be accepted.
