Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – The Hawaiʻi House of Representatives today recognized the Hawaiian Council, formerly known as Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, for 25 years of advancing the cultural, economic, political, and overall well-being of Native Hawaiians. The recognition was delivered during a floor presentation in the House chamber.
"This 25-year milestone reflects not only the organization's growth, but the trust it has built and the impact it continues to make," said Representative Kirstin Kahaloa. "Through strong leadership and deep commitment to community, the organization has expanded its work across housing, economic development, workforce training, and cultural preservation, creating a comprehensive approach to uplifting Native Hawaiian communities."
“Hawaiian Council isn’t just an organization that plans—it responds,” said Representative Darius K. Kila. “As communities across the Westside and throughout our state face flooding and ongoing challenges, the Hawaiian Council has once again stepped up, working alongside partners, mobilizing resources, and helping families get back on their feet."
The floor presentation was sponsored by Representative Darius K. Kila (D-44, Honokai Hale, Nānākuli, Ma‘ili) and seconded by Representative Kirstin Kahaloa (D-6, Honaunau, Napo‘opo‘o, Captain Cook, Kealakekua, Keauhou, Holualoa, Kailua-Kona).
