Mililani, Hawaiʻi – The offices of Representative Trish La Chica and Representative Lauren Matsumoto will be co-hosting the Central Oʻahu Community Wildfire Prevention & Disaster Preparedness Workshop on December 11, 2023 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Kanoelani Elementary School.
Residents are invited to attend this community workshop and gain access to knowledge and resources that can significantly enhance their preparedness for wildfire events and other potential disasters.

WHAT: Central Oʻahu Community Wildfire Prevention & Disaster Preparedness Workshop
Ø Firewise Principles: Learn how to create a defensible space around your home, reducing the risk of wildfire damage and protecting your property.
Ø Home Hardening Techniques: Discover effective methods to strengthen your home's structure, making it more resistant to wildfire damage.
Ø Evacuation Plan: Formulate a well-defined plan for you and your ʻohana to safely evacuate your home in the event of a wildfire.
Ø Emergency Management and First Responders: Engage with representatives from the Hawaiʻi Wildfire Management Organization, Department of Land and Natural Resources - Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFOW), Honolulu Fire Department, Honolulu Department of Emergency Management, and Oʻahu Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to gain valuable insights from experienced professionals.
Ø Community Connections: Participate in breakout sessions to discuss Firewise practices, exchange ideas on neighborhood safety initiatives, and meet your neighbors!
