REP. LA CHICA RECOGNIZED AS DELEGATE FOR 2023 FILIPINO YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAM

Honolulu, Hawaiʻi – Hawaiʻi's own House Representative Trish La Chica has been selected as a delegate for the Filipino Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO), a collaborative effort between the Philippine Embassy, Consulates General in the United States, and the Ayala Foundation, Inc. (AFI). As a member of this national cohort, La Chica will proudly represent the Aloha State, working towards promoting and empowering the Filipino-American community while fostering international relations.

"I am honored to be part of this network of high-performing, next-generation leaders who are dedicated to advancing positive change in the Philippines and for the Filipino-American community. I look forward to gaining life-changing insights, expanding my leadership skills, and developing meaningful connections with community, business, and government leaders," said Representative Trish La Chica (D-37 Mililani Town, Mililani Mauka, Koa Ridge and Waipiʻo Gentry).

The 2023 FYLPRO cohort brings together 15 young leaders across the country to travel to the Philippines and meet with business, community, and civic leaders, in an effort to bridge and strengthen ties between the United States and the Philippines. This year's cohort comprises accomplished individuals including Fulbright Scholars, an award-winning children's book author, a documentary filmmaker, and the first Filipino American woman to hold the position of Mayor in Daly City, California.

"I am committed to utilizing my experience in the Hawaiʻi State Legislature to support the advancement of Filipino Americans and foster collaborative relationships that will drive innovation and leadership within the Filipino community," Rep. La Chica added.

FYLPRO was established in 2012 by Former Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the United States of America, Jose L. Cuisia, Jr., and Mrs. Victoria J. Cuisia in cooperation with the Ayala Foundation Inc. (AFI) to annually identify outstanding young professionals in Filipino communities across the United States and provide the delegates with invaluable community, business, and government insights and access to distinguished network captains of various industries and government.
